GEORGIA’S 1ST DISTRICT — Eugene Yu is wholeheartedly supportive of President Trump’s efforts to detain and deport criminal aliens who are unlawfully present in the United States. Eugene Yu will champion whole-of-government strategies for securing our borders and ensuring fair international trade.

However, the situation at the Hyundai plant in southeastern Georgia was based on long-standing practices on the use of visas for temporary workers that could and should have been improved long ago. The detention of Korean nationals at the Hyundai plant near Savannah represents managerial failure on both the American and the Korean side.

Korean contractors, including technicians and managers, came to Georgia on B-visas, treaty-based visa authorities, and lawful free trade agreement exchanges in order to provide the expertise needed to produce manufacturing capabilities to precise Korean specifications and to assure new production lines were run efficiently. They were not present in the United States to displace local workers in the 1st District.

On the contrary, they were here to complete new production lines and validate them against the specifications used by Korean companies. Since the techniques, procedures, and processes used to operate these production lines were new to the United States, the Korean workers were needed to finalize the project. Only then could American workers be hired and trained for the roles.

These Korean nationals were here to create, not take, American jobs.

Korean foreign direct and portfolio investment is a linchpin of economic development strategy in the 1st District and the great state of Georgia, more generally. Eugene Yu will continue to demand clarity on the policy goals and administrative processes that have driven these questionable detentions and will work to preserve the progress that has been made in establishing a healthy trade and cross-border operational environment for corporations in the Georgian and Korean business communities.

GEORGIA’S 1ST DISTRICT — The Eugene Yu for U.S. Congress in Georgia’s 1st District campaign is deeply saddened by the horrifically violent and wholly unexpected death of conservative Christian activist, devoted husband, and loving father Charlie Kirk on 10 September 2025. We lament that his family will feel the unmitigated sting of this loss for generations and we fear that the destabilizing consequences of this likely politically-motivated murder will reverberate throughout American society for some time.

Out of respect for the law enforcement officials involved, we will not engage in finger-pointing while investigations into the root causes and culpable suspects are still underway. However, a few things are clear.

First, there were evident security failures that took place on the campus of Utah Valley University on that fateful day. More must be done to ensure discipline, thoroughness, and competence in securing the high-ground and perimeter in executive protection operations, as the events in Butler, PA during the assassination attempt on President Trump already sufficiently demonstrated.

Second, the spiraling violence in these great United States of America has multifactorial causes, but we must condemn the escalatory rhetoric which fuels political violence. It is platitudinous to issue forth decrees with empty deontic locutions about violence having no place in our society. Clearly, extraordinary levels of violence have found a place in our society and we need action to combat them, not hollow words.

We will not join the chorus of those left of center commentators who seek to blame guns for violence. While firearms enhance the lethality of violence, it is asinine and fallacious to obsessively blame the material causes by which violence is implemented while, in effect, ignoring the underlying efficient causes.

Nor will we join the left in blaming mere economic inequality for these problems. We believe that some level of economic inequality is a salubrious part of a competitive business environment, as resources accumulate to their most efficient stewards. Yet, this constitutional Republic was not meant to have such severe inequalities in voice before the powerful, policy influence, inclusion in the agenda setting processes, access to civil litigation, quality representation in criminal defense, and redress of grievance before the state and all officials acting under the color of law.

Unlike the impossible economic and identity-driven social equality championed by the neo-Marxians who have attempted to capture the erstwhile neoliberal institutions of governance, the forms of inequality we have herein highlighted are especially pernicious, insidious, destabilizing, and run contrary to the sentimental belief in fundamental fairness that courses through the hearts of decent Americans. They are also impediments to the practical self-governance the Founding Fathers expected of the American citizenry if we are to keep this Republic.

These are the social problems at the root of the evils we see unfolding and these are the issues this campaign is devoted to addressing with public policy, Christian morality, and penitent prayerfulness in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
